TRUCK ACCIDENTS
More often than not, truck accidents are caused by the fatigue and carelessness of the driver. Many truck drivers work up to 14 – 16 hour shifts which means increased fatigue and lower reaction times. The driver’s inability to stay alert is the cause for many highway accidents. Shipping company’s profits rely on their merchandise reaching their destination as fast as possible. This means that every time the driver stops or slows down, their shipment is delayed. The trucking company’s eagerness for profits and fast delivery, may also be their blatant disregard for the safety of other motorists. Many truck accidents involve aggressive driving, tail-gating, speeding, improper lane changes, losing control, driving with an unsecured load, jackknifing, and rollovers. The commercial motor vehicle laws strictly prohibit careless driving.
